So we came in 2^nd. In a competition involving three other very talented local chefs this is a good thing. More importantly we invested some time into helping We Don’t Waste raise some money and awareness for their cause: Feeding the hungry in the Denver area using food that is leftover after large public events, concerts, games, etc. Much of this food is thrown out afterwards and coming from a large hotel I have seen it firsthand. It’s a shame to let it go in the trash but local laws make it difficult for most food service operations to limit their liability when donating prepared food. We Don’t Waste works with local and state governments to make it easier for them to do that. They are expanding their operation to multiple cities and are helping other cities pass legislation so services like theirs can operate.
