Holidays are good for a few extra pounds

Holidays are good for a few extra pounds.
Let’s look over my time in the kitchen and at the table. Five chefs in the family create ample opportunities for holiday grazing. We are a little embarrassed about talking about it.
The big three for me are as follows. Cookies and candies for sharing got me out of the blocks this year. My Brother John’s caramels and fudge along with my wife's six types of cookies set the pace. Christmas day we gathered for dinner with Jack’s traditional Beef Wellingtons, best I have ever had and Lydia’s peanut butter pie! Several days later we used the beef trimmings to make Beef Stroganoff on Buttered noodles and green beans. Finally we ended the grazing with a Traditional Filipino table with all the trimmings.
It was a lot of fun. It gives us a sense of unity over the holidays…A sense of wholeness.
I am eating better now probably because no one can keep that pace. I am all about eating healthy but when it’s time to splurge and celebrate, do the work and have a good time.
