They Call it Silver Queen for a Reason

Home Grown Corn
It sure feels nice when you can share cut sweet corn in late November. This story started in early spring when Mr. and Mrs. West decided to plant their sweet corn. They have always produced some of the best corn out of southern Indiana where I grew up. Over the summer I stopped, talked and picked up some corn whenever they had their sign out. It’s a social visit first.
The last mess of corn was the variety called Silver Queen. It’s rare when I see it anymore. My intention was to buy just a couple of ears but before I knew it I was going home with a feed sack FULL of corn thanks to the West family.
Silver Queen is so good for corn pudding I couldn’t waste an ear. I cut and froze many bags of corn that night. Filled up my freezer.  The down fall is my freezer was at capacity. Enter Thanksgiving. I gave away a lot of frozen corn. Thanks to everyone that helped me clear out my freezer.
I can’t wait to share the compliments with Mr. and Mrs. West. I just cut and froze all their love and hard work.
